FC Barcelona defeats PFL Team USA, League Resurfacing

Image may contain: 10 people, people smiling, basketball courtALLEN, TX (8-17-19) - FC Barcelona defeated PFL Team USA 6-2 in an international futsal match at the Allen Center at Allen, TX, Aug. 17. The PFL International Challenge drew an estimated 4,000 onlookers.

"Thank you everyone that watched and cheered us on at home and in the USA," said Team USA spokesman Tony Toral. "We are proud of how we played. Thank you Professional Futsal League, thank you Rob Andrews, Keith Tozer, and everyone involved."

The starting USA lineup of goalkeeper Brian Rodriguez and field players Bruno Ximenes, Alejandro Bustelo, Andres Huerfano and Bosco Godeiro was drawn from Toral's NY Equador Futsal Club.

Also taking part in the Challenge were Freemantle Muita Calma Futsal Club playing as Team Australia and the Dallas Sidekicks, a Major Arena Soccer League team. MASL club).

"It is great to see the league organizing such events again," said a statement in the Online Futsal Focus, managed by Tozer. "Especially, when many Futsal Focus followers due to the recent lack of PFL activity were messaging us wondering if the league was no longer going to happen."

"The staff at the PFL are still aiming to launch their league but waiting for the best time to do so. Hopefully, we will see the league up and running in the next couple of years. It will be interesting to see the impact and attention it gets, especially, if they still aim to run the league with their own variation of the rules away from the standard set by FIFA or the AMF."

"The crowd was totally into it," Toral wrote on Facebook. "Humbled by the experience and excited by the show the teams put on. Everything was flawless from the organizational standpoint."
